Olympic silver Medal winner Mirabai Chanu And seven other top Indian weightlifters will leave for the USA on Tuesday for a three-and-a-half-week strength and conditioning (S&C) training camp in St Louis.
Chanu will be joined by 2022 Commonwealth Games medalists Jeremy Lalrinnunga, Achinta Sheuli, Sanket Sargar, Bindyarani Devi, Gurdeep Singh and former 2018 CWG champion RV Rahul and Asian Championship gold medalist Jilli Dalabehra in the three hall for St Louis, USA. – A week long camp.

Sargar, who went under the knife due to an elbow injury during an event at CWG, will undergo rehabilitation.
“All these lifters have minor niggles like Gurdeep has some wrist problem. Sanket will go through proper rehabilitation. We want everyone to be absolutely fit for the World Championships,” he added.
The lifters work with Dr. Aaron Horschig, a former weightlifter turned physical therapist and strength and conditioning coach.
Chanu has been contacting Horshig since 2020. He was instrumental in solving her imbalance problem which affected her snatch technique.
She trained with Horschig for a month in March before the CWG.
“Mira doesn’t have any problem right now, but she will also do some strength training as we go there,” says Sharma.
The senior weightlifters will miss the Asian Championships this year, opting instead to focus on the world meet, a qualifying event for the Paris Olympics.
The Asian Championships are scheduled to be held in Manama, Bahrain from October 6 to 16. India will field a ‘B’ team of junior lifters.
“The lifters who have returned from the CWG will not participate in the Asian championship. We will send our B team,” Sharma said.
“The focus is on the World Championship to qualify for the Paris Olympics,” added the head coach.
The World Championship, to be held in Bagota, Colombia from December 5 to 15, is the first qualifying event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Indian weightlifting team He returned earlier this month with 10 medals, including three golds and several silvers.
While Sharma was happy with his lifters’ performance at the CWG, the head coach rued the missed opportunities.
