Guru Poornima is a day dedicated to all Gurus, which is celebrated to commemorate Lord Buddha giving his first sermons to his five disciples. Guru is always considered as our teacher, guru or mentor who guides and inspires us and instills values and knowledge.
Expressing their gratitude towards such gurus, the telly actors spoke about the gurus who inspired and played an important role in changing their lives.
These include Sachi Tiwari (Sumathi, Baal Shiv), Charrul Malik (Roosa, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Rohitashv Gaur (Manmohan Tiwari, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai).
Sachi Tiwari, known as Sumathi in &TV’s Baal Shiv, said, “Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheswara’ – this quote represents the importance of guru or guru in one’s life. In my school, it was my drama teacher who guided me in times of doubt. She believed in me and brought out the best in me.
She further added, “Today, if I am able to act on screen, it is because of her, and I am forever grateful to her. There was a time when I was not confident, but she motivated me, helped me improve my skills and asked me to keep trying. Everything I learned about acting was from her. She taught me how to express myself through my art. I show my love and respect by sending her a rose on Guru Purnima and she always says, to her my Guru Dakshina is my hard work, my success and my growth.
Charrul Malik, who plays Rusa in &TV’s Happu Ki Ultaan Paltaan, says about her mother, “My mother is my mentor. She has been instrumental in shaping my life and I can’t thank her enough. She is an all-rounder: a good Hindi professor, singer and dancer. She has an unmatched brilliance and her never-give-up attitude has helped me become who I am today. She got this attitude from my Nana Ji, an IAS officer.
My mother taught me everything, guided me and made me experience life. She has always fueled my journey in journalism, anchoring and acting. She always said, “One should be open to all possibilities in life; The worst you’ll get is a NO, but at least you tried”. She inspired me to move forward in life and never stop. There should be no saturation point in life”, added the star.
Rohitashv Gaur, who we know as Manmohan Tiwari in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai shared, “On the occasion of Guru Poornima I want to highlight the work of renowned filmmaker and playwright Ranjit Kapoor. I credit him with being a major influence on my life and work. He made my time at the National School of Drama a success.
He also said, “I can’t imagine the journey of my life without his presence. He supported me through thick and thin. I was auditioned for various roles in plays directed by him. The one who guided me through times of doubt and allowed me to be the best version of myself. Working with him was a wonderful learning experience. Today, I am a successful actor and I want to dedicate this success to my mentor Mr. Ranjit Kapoor.
