India’s mental coach Paddy Upton is ready for the team’s campaign at the T20 World Cup in Australia, saying it is time for the big show.
India arrived in Australia on Friday (October 7) and began their first practice session at the WACA.
Paddy Upton was appointed as the Indian team’s mental health coach in July this year. Since then, he has worked with head coach Rahul Dravid to maintain the team’s workload management. He worked with the Indian players during home and away bilateral series and the recent Asia Cup.

India begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne. The Rohit Sharma-led team will be high on confidence after winning the T20I series at home against recent world champions Australia and South Africa.
India suffered a major blow ahead of their departure for the ICC event as fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a back injury. Bumrah was ruled out by the BCCI medical panel following a comprehensive evaluation and consultation with experts.
The fast bowler was initially ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa due to back problems. Bumrah was replaced by Mohammad Siraj during the series against South Africa. However, the Indian Cricket Board is yet to announce the replacement player for the T20 World Cup.
