Heavy rains lashed Chennai on Monday, resulting in a drop in overall temperature. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rains will continue in many parts of the region.

Heavy rains in Chennai on Monday brought down the overall temperature. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that rains will continue in Kerala till the rain activity subsides during the southwest monsoon.
On Monday, Nungambakkam weather station recorded 32.9 degrees and Meenambakkam 32.5 degrees, which were 2.6 degrees and 3.3 degrees below normal.
Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts continue to receive heavy rains.
14 cm of rain, followed by snowfall of 10 cm, was recorded in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Monday. Coimbatore Sinnakala has received maximum rainfall in the state. As per IMD forecast, the rain activity will continue till July 15.
Meteorological centers recorded 6 mm of rain in Pallikaran, 7 mm in Tambaram, 0.5 mm in Nungambakkam and 4 mm in Meenambakkam.
