Pradosha vrata is observed for blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This occasion falls twice in every month according to the Hindu calendar. According to Panchangam, the first Pradosha Vrat of this month falls on July 11. The next fast is on July 25.
Pradosha Vrat 2022: Significance
People believe that if a devotee performs the Pradosha Vrata with pure dedication and devotion, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati will grant them all the auspiciousness in life. Those who have stopped observing the vrata can visit the temple and perform abhishekam in front of the deities.
On this auspicious day, women devotees consider it highly auspicious to offer romantic objects to Goddess Parvati. These items include clothes, lipstick, kajal, sindoor, bangles, mehndi and bindi, sweets, fruits and dry fruits.
Devotees fast from sunrise till evening to worship Lord Shiva. Prayers and pujas are performed at dusk. Shivalinga is bathed with milk, curd and ghee. Bell leaves are also offered on Shiva Lingam. After all the rituals are completed, the devotees listen to the story of the Pradosha Vrata.
Puja is a duty
Pradosha Puja Muhurta starts from 7:22 PM to 9:24 PM. Today 12th July from 11:13 am to 7:46 am will be observed as Trayodashi Tithi.
The auspicious Brahma Muhurtam starts from 4:10 AM to 4:50 AM, another auspicious Muhurtam-Abhijit starts at 11:59 AM and ends at 12:54 PM.
On this occasion, the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is chanted 108 times and goes like this:
“Om Triambhakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam Urvarukmiv Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Mamritat”
