from Bollywood For OTT, actress Shweta Tripathi rules every place she is in and makes sure she enjoys whatever she does. The actress, who made her debut with a teenage drama in 2009, is now one of the most bankable and popular faces in OTT and has also delivered hitmakers on the big screen. In a free-wheeling chat with News18.com, she opened up about her work process and shared that she doesn’t want to limit herself as an actor to any platform.
Talking about her transition from big screen to OTT, the Escape Live actress said, “When you do a feature film, it ends soon but with a series, it goes on for a while. I did Golu (Mirzapur) five years ago and then season 2 happened and the third season is also coming. Over time, you will improve as a person and as an actor as well. Now the challenge is to come to terms with it and take it all forward. OTT comes in more layers as people have more time. Making 2-3 feature films is a big responsibility. Also, when an episode ends, it should have a hook that brings people back to the second episode. So there is pressure.
Shweta continued that if something is fun to do, her audience will also enjoy watching it. That’s why the Masaan actress says she should never limit herself to such things. “If I’m having fun doing something, I think my audience will have the same kind of fun watching my work. That’s why I don’t limit myself to a platform. I recently did an audio series on Spotify called Batman. I’ve never done anything like this before and it’s amazing. And I think they should stretch themselves as an actor as well. The more you explore, the more you grow. So that’s what I learned from all these stories. “
One of her most awaited series Mirzapur is coming back with its third season and the same announcement has piqued the interest of her fans. Talking about her character Golu, she excitedly said that it is going to be even more amazing this time.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun, that’s all I can say. I love Golu and I’ve learned a lot from her. I take a lot away from my roles and it feels great to come back to them. They are literally who we are, an extension of our goals, our personality. So bohot maja ane wala hai.”
The actress was recently seen in the web series Escape Live, where she played the role of Sunaina, who she calls as herself. The show mainly revolves around how social media obsession can go wrong in dangerous ways. When asked how she keeps herself away from the toxicity of social media, Shweta added, “No matter how many nice things people say to us, one negative or worst comment always affects us the most. So why do I think we should give so much power to one person? God knows whether a person is in a good mood or whether they have eaten something. So I don’t want to give anyone so much validation or so much power and control over me and my thoughts. Before going to bed or after waking up, I don’t immediately check my phone or read comments and reviews. I think it is important to keep one’s sanity in today’s day and time. Not only physical fitness is important but mental toughness is also important and they both go hand in hand.
Going forward, Shweta has several projects lined up, all of which will try different types of roles. Asked what else she wanted to explore, she replied that she wanted to play a lawyer, a teacher and a superhero on screen. And for the latter, she doesn’t want to try her luck in Hollywood because they have released many popular superhero films.
“Like I said, I don’t want to limit myself. I want everyone to see my work as an actor. When Masaan went to the Cannes Film Festival, the reaction we got there was not a barrier of language because the emotions were universal. And as long as people understand your emotions, there is no stopping you. I also want to do international and regional projects. I want to learn the language and connect with the regional stories and work with those people. Whenever I watch something like Squid Game or Money Heist, I watch it in the original language,” concluded Shweta.
