  • Djokovic now has 21 Slams, one more than Roger Federer
  • Djokovic will miss US Open after refusing vaccination

Novak Djokovic won his fourth consecutive title at Wimbledon and moved one ahead of Roger Federer in the number of Grand Slam trophies. The Serbian was greeted by many, but what immediately went viral was the eldest son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince George of Cambridge, third in line to the British throne, made his Wimbledon debut in the men’s singles final between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios on Center Court.

The prince, along with his parents, personally congratulated Djokovic on his seventh title at the championships. George’s first visit to the British royal family turned out to be a memorable one, with Djokovic giving him his trophy to keep but warning him not to drop it.

The win at Wimbledon was Djokovic’s first of the season after being exiled from Australia and losing in the quarter-finals at the French Open earlier this year.

At the championship, Djokovic beat Australia’s Kyrgios in a four-set final 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, 7(7)–6(3). This could also be the Serbian’s last Grand Slam this year, as his chances of taking part in the US Open are slim.

Djokovic must be vaccinated to enter the United States. But the Serbian has made his position clear: “I’m not vaccinated and I don’t plan to be vaccinated, so the only good news for me is that they will remove the compulsory green vaccination card or whatever you call it to enter. America or exemption.”

“I’m hoping for some good news from America because I want to go there. If that doesn’t happen, I’ll have to see what the schedule looks like.”
