The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) has released the ‘Dream’ prospectus for the Pune/Mumbai racing season 2022-2023. Pune season starts from July 22 and ends on November 6, 2022.
According to a statement published in the prospectus, in his continued effort to promote racing, Javarai S. Poonawalla, who drafted the prospectus and provided invaluable inputs, ensured that minimum stakes start from ₹5 lakh and juvenile races from ₹12 lakh. Increasing stakes money for all group races, making it the most profitable prospectus ever for all stakeholders.
Mr. Poonawalla’s personal contribution of ₹3 crore along with his regular sponsorships helped the stakes reach record highs.
Experienced KN Dhunjibhoy and others, who consistently contributed for the share money, also guided in the drafting of the prospectus. Their contribution helped to further increase the share money of ₹1.5 crore.
40 days of racing (18 in Pune and 22 in Mumbai), average stakes of over ₹ 80 lakh per race day and almost no restrictions on outstation horses.
Standard stakes:Grade I Races: ₹50 lakhs and above; Grade II Races: ₹20 lakhs and above; Grade III Races: ₹15 lakhs and above; Juvenile Species: ₹12 lakhs and above; Class I Races (up to 1400m): ₹10 lakhs; Class I Races (1600m & above): ₹12 lakhs; Class II Races (up to 1400m): ₹7.5 lakh; Class II Races (1600m & above): ₹9 lakhs; Class III (all races): ₹6.5 lakh; Class IV (all races): ₹5.5 lakhs; Class V (All Species): ₹5 lakhs.
