Rashmi Kumari became the Carrom World Champion for the third time


Rashmi Kumari was the top scorer at the 8th World Carrom Championship in Langkawi, Malaysia, winning three titles.

The 38-year-old Rashmi won her third singles title at the World Championships, beating compatriot Kajal Kumari 25-20, 25-16 in the final. Her last World Championship singles title was in 2012.

Team Rashmi along with Neelam Ghodake, Kajal Kumari and Debajani Tamuli won the title. She had earlier won the doubles title with Neelam.

The men’s title was won by Sandeep Dive 1-25, 25-19, 25-22, defeating doubles partner Abdul Rahman in a thrilling climax.

Earlier India had won the men’s and women’s team titles defeating Sri Lanka and USA respectively. India lost the crown to Sri Lanka last time.
