Megastar Rajinikanth is receiving praise for R Madhavan’s magnum opus ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ and he took to Twitter to share his appreciation. Calling it a must-see, he praised Madhavan for his directorial debut and stated that his work is at par with the best directors.
In a note in Tamil, Rajinikanth said, “Rocketry is a must watch film for everyone – especially the youth. For the development of space research of our country, Shri Padmabhushan Nambi Narayanan has made many hardships and sacrifices. Madhavan has proved that he is at par with the best directors in his very first film as a director by showing the story of Nambi Narayanan very realistically. My thanks and congratulations to him for giving me such a film.”
Madhavan essays the role of Nambi Narayanan, a former ISRO scientist who developed efficient liquid fuel engines and was falsely accused in a spy scandal. Also acted in this film Shahrukh Khan In a cameo role.
During the promotional period, when asked if Madhavan has any other directorial ventures, the actor clarified that he has no immediate plans due to the overall exhausting nature of directing a film. Because Narayanan believed in him, he pushed Madhavan to direct the film after the original director had to quit midway.
Madhavan also said that he wants his wife to continue as an actor. “For now, my wife wants me to focus on acting. I am not Mani Ratnam who can confidently do films in different genres. I don’t think I can. If I have to direct again, a story has to really move me,” he said.
Rocketry was released in theaters last Friday and received mixed reviews from critics. The film was simultaneously released in Tamil, English and Hindi languages. Madhavan will next be seen in Kalpesh Garg’s high concept comedy Amriki Pandit.
