Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement on population growth on the occasion of World Population Day created a huge controversy. Now, BJP leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has also said about it. Naqvi said it was not fair to link population growth to a religion. This is the problem of the entire country.
In his Twitter post, the minister said, “Population is not a problem of any religion, it is a problem of the country. It is not fair to associate it with caste or any religion,” he said.

Naqvi’s statement comes at a time when he recently resigned from the post of Union Minister. His Rajya Sabha term ended. However, there are talks about him contesting as the BJP’s candidate for the post of Vice President.
Earlier, Yogi Adityanath had expressed concern over the increasing population in Uttar Pradesh at a function held in Lucknow on the occasion of World Population Day.
“The population control program should be successful but care should be taken to avoid population imbalance,” he said.
“As the pace of population growth or the percentage of certain communities is high, we stabilize the `Moolniwasi’ (indigenous) population through awareness or enforcement,” the chief minister said.
Whenever we talk about population stabilization, we should keep in mind that the population control program should continue successfully, but at the same time, the situation of population imbalance should not be allowed, the UP Chief Minister underlined.
