Messi and Neymar won 4-0 as PSG won the Champions Trophy

Lionel Messi opened the scoring and Neymar scored twice as French champions Paris Saint-Germain beat French Cup winners Nantes 4-0 to lift the Champions Trophy on Sunday.

Messi, a record seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, scored midway through the first half. Taking a deflected pass from Neymar, he scored with a fine finish past goalkeeper Alban Lafont.

Neymar expertly guided into the top left corner in first-half injury time to give coach Christophe Gaultier’s side a 2-0 lead at Tel Aviv’s Bloomfield Stadium, which hosted the game for the second straight year.

Veteran defender Sergio Ramos made it 3-0 in the 57th minute and Neymar converted a penalty in the 82nd minute after he was sent off by Jean-Charles Castellet.

Gaultier, who guided Lille to the league title against the odds in 2021, now has his first trophy at PSG. He replaced Mariko Pochettino after he was sacked.

Antoine Combouret, who once coached PSG, helped Nantes win their first trophy in 21 years when they won the Cup.
