Mehuli-Tushar second gold for India; Palak and Shiva signed in bronze


The duo of Mehuli Ghosh and Shahu Tushar Mane gave India their second gold medal in the 10m air rifle mixed team final at the ongoing ISSF Shooting World Cup on Wednesday.

In the 10m air pistol mixed event, the Indian pair of Palak and Shiva Narwal finished third and bagged bronze in the play-off.

The in-form duo of Mehuli and Tushar defeated the Hungarian pair of Sjeter Meszaros and Istvan Penn 17-13 in a close encounter.

Shooters from Israel and the Czech Republic took third and fourth place, respectively.

It was Tushar’s first gold for India at the senior level while Mehuli bagged his second yellow metal, winning his first at the 2019 South Asian Games in Kathmandu.

In the mixed air pistol event, Palak and Shiva defeated Kazakhstan’s Irina Loktinova and Valery Rakhimzhan 16-0 in a one-sided affair.

With Wednesday’s impressive results, India have now moved to second place behind leaders Serbia with two gold and one bronze medal.
