Whenever we want to go on a vacation with our friends, we should have a name that comes to our mind. It is the best destination for nature lovers and adventure travelers. Despite all the fun things, camping in Manali holds a special place in every traveller’s heart. From overnight camps to riverside camps, there is no dearth of thrilling camping locations in this popular hill station.
However, in a major development, Manali has taken a step to ban illegal camping here. According to a report in Times of India, Manali Sub-Divisional Magistrate Surender Thakur explained how people come to Manali without any permission and enter the forest areas to mark it as their permanent camping area. He further said, “These campsites are dumping garbage and polluting water bodies. Strict action will be taken to stop this activity.
Apart from that, those who want to go into the forest areas will have to pay Rs. 50. The Government has asked the authorities to remove illegal camps from such places and checkposts have been placed at various places, especially at the beginning of well-travelled trekking routes.
Reportedly, a team will create temporary check posts to verify authorization and adherence to HP Adventure Activities rules. The first checkpoint will be constructed to conduct camping and hiking in the Hamta Pass trek. The forest department issues camping licenses and activities are allowed only at a distance of at least 25 meters from watercourses. In addition, unless a specific license is issued, solo camping is prohibited.
Solang Valley, Tentsville Camping, Bhanu Bridge, Tirthan Valley, Beas River and Sethan are some popular places to camp in Manali.
