Liverpool will have to become more unpredictable to return to their greatest: Jurgen Klopp

As the Premier League giants look to bounce back from a poor start to the campaign, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says his side must become more unpredictable to return to their best. Liverpool have struggled to replicate that form and are ninth in the league with two wins from seven games so far.

“It’s very important that we become unpredictable again, so we need different systems,” Klopp told reporters on Friday.

“We don’t want to make it more complicated than it needs to be, but we have to find what’s best for our next opponent and for us.

“When we are not at our best, teams have developed how to play against us. There is no weakness in the world. It depends on how we perform, what we have done and what intensity we have.

“We’re still working on finding a way. So we’re back, you can’t say we need consistency. I’m not interested in this short term. We have to be good as long as we get better.”

Klopp praised Arsenal and their manager Mikel Arteta, but said he believes the north London side will “cause them problems” at the Emirates Stadium after a flying start to the season.

Arsenal are one point clear of champions Manchester City after winning seven of their opening eight games.

“My respect, wow,” Klopp said.

“It’s a really good job from Michael. When you need some time, nobody wants to give you time… He’s a young, enthusiastic team that’s doing really well.”

Andy Robertson and Curtis Jones are back in training and completing their return, Klopp added. Midfielder Arthur Melo will miss Sunday’s game with a muscle injury, while Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are sidelined.
