Deepak Chahar has a stiff back, and not a sprained ankle, which has ruled him out of the last two ODIs against SA. He has shifted to the NCA in Bangalore and is likely to fly to Australia with Mohammed Shami on October 16.

In the first ODI between India and South Africa, a new-look Shikhar Dhawan-led side lost to Tempa Bauma’s South Africa by just 9 runs in Lucknow. Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller scored unbeaten 74 and 75 respectively to take South Africa to a total of 249/4.
In reply, India suffered an early slump as openers Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan got out cheaply. The likes of Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson tried to revive India’s hopes, but after Iyer’s (50) was dismissed, Samson’s (86 not out) effort went in vain and India ultimately lost.
