Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar is likely to be ruled out of the last two ODIs against South Africa due to injury.

Sahar, who has been named player-in-waiting for the 2022 T20 World Cup, has a tough back. He moved to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Sahar will fly to Australia on October 16 along with Mohammed Shami.

In the first ODI between India and South Africa, a new-look Shikhar Dhawan-led side lost to Tempa Bauma’s South Africa by just 9 runs in Lucknow. Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller scored unbeaten 74 and 75 respectively to take South Africa to a total of 249/4.

In reply, India suffered an early slump as openers Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan got out cheaply. The likes of Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson tried to revive India’s hopes, but after Iyer’s (50) was dismissed, Samson’s (86 not out) effort went in vain and India ultimately lost.
