14-year-old Anahat Singh made history with a successful start to her Commonwealth Games women’s singles squash campaign. Anahat, who hails from New Delhi, won the Round of 64 match 3-0 in Birmingham on Friday, July 29.

Anahat, the youngest athlete to represent India at the Commonwealth Games and the youngest squash player in Birmingham, Jada Ross dominated St Vincent and the Grenadines 11-5, 11-0, 11-2.

Looking to learn from the Birmingham 2022 experience, Anahat has already won 50 titles, including the US Junior Open, British, German and Dutch Junior Opens and the Asian Championships. The teenager is looking to capitalize on her experience at the Commonwealth Games.

Anahad had a smile on her face as Jada Ross embraced her with the Birmingham crowd. She was surprised to see Anahat win Friday’s opening round.

Anahat will face world number 19 Emily Whitlock in a women’s singles round of 32 match on Saturday.
