Boston police locate 8-year-old boy, say reported kidnapping was a “misunderstanding”

Boston police have located an 8-year-old boy who had been reported kidnapped earlier Thursday. “The van and child have been located, and this incident was a misunderstanding,” the Boston Police Department tweeted. 

The Boston Police Department earlier in the day had requested help finding a gray van that it believed to be involved in a possible kidnapping. An 8-year-old Asian male was reported kidnapped at 700 Commonwealth Ave. — a Boston University dormitory, according to CBS Boston — at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Thursday. 

Police thanked the media for sharing the story and individuals “who saw something and said something.”
