Ahmedabad was inundated with 115 mm of rain in just three hours on Sunday, the highest recorded in July in a single day in the last 5 years. The rain, which started around 7 pm, led to water entering the ground floor areas in almost all parts of the city, including many posh bungalow projects in the western parts of the city.
According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the city received 114.7 mm of rain between 7 am and 10 am, the highest rainfall since July 2017.
On the other hand, Baldi received 239 mm of rain, followed by 198 mm in Podakdev, 196 mm in Usmanpura, 182 mm in Makthampura and 180 mm in Jodhpur areas.
For perspective, the city records an annual rainfall of 782 mm. Sunday rainfall is 15% of the annual average.
Baldi recorded 302 mm of rain till 11 pm, 205 mm in Usmanpura, 206 mm in Makthampura, 203 mm in Bodakhdev, 203 mm in Jodhpur, 185 mm in Bhopal, 164 mm in Maninagar, and 133 mm in Ranip.
